Biography

Finn Shields is a British composer based in Helsinki, Finland. He has written for orchestra, chamber
groups, choir, solo piano and many other ensembles as well as digitally. His music has been performed
internationally.

 

Finn writes music for concerts, films, and video games.

Now settled in Finland, Finn recently graduated from the Sibelius Academy where he studied with Matthew Whittall. An active member of the Korvat Auki contemporary music society, Finn served as chairman from 2020 to 2021. Finn is also a board member of UNM Finland, part of the large Ung Nordisk Musik festival in the Nordic Countries.

Upcoming projects in 2022-23 include a recording with Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, and performances of 3 choral works around Finland. Finn is also a finalist at the composition competition of the Finnish union of women's choirs.
